Location of Thread: Pandora Residential Area Characters Involved: Lucifer Morningstar & Tiffany Weston with John McCoy Played By: Tom Ellis & Lauren German with Karl Urban
Lucifer had been in a silent emotional turmoil ever since Lilith had slipped through his fingers that day. She had been causing chaos in his town and he was not happy about it. However, truth be told, he didn't really want to have to take her out for good, but if needs must, to keep his town safe from harm, then that is what he might have to do. He had a special knife that was just to kill Lilith and only he knew where it was and only he could yield it to kill her. Nobody else. It was probably because of the long time connection that they had from the day he had fallen from heaven to hell.
So, he was out and about trying to get some fresh air and get over his funk when he noticed the gates to Pandora opening up. Pandora was a big gated town, and it just continued to grow to house all the residents that was lured there, but no matter where in the town he was, he always knew when the gates were opening. He could always sense new residents as well, even if he didn't know who they were exactly. This time though, something made him want to head towards the entry to Pandora. He couldn't explain why, but he felt drawn to find out who the newcomer was this time.
He was watching from afar and he soon saw that it was a female and she was heading into the Police Station. Interesting he thought, had John hired a new officer or detective? It was possible, what with all the random killings, maybe John felt that he needed more officers or detectives to deal with it all. He felt inclined to make himself known to her and as she turned before she walked through the door to the station, he immediately said what he thought was in his head, but was said aloud, “Oh, hello.” The woman heard and instead of walking into the station, she approached him. “Oh, hello yourself. I'm the new detective to Pandora, Tiffany Weston, pleased to meet your acquaintance.” As she held her hand out, she found herself staring into his eyes, almost losing herself in him.
He was the most handsome man she had ever laid her eyes on, and that accent of his, it was to die for. Who didn't crumble at a quintessential English accent? Lucifer stood with his mouth open, feeling frozen for the first time in as long as he could remember. It took a very special person to make him at a loss for words. As Tiffany continued to look up at him, she began to laugh lightly, “Cat caught your tongue suddenly? You said hello first.” Lucifer finally snapped out of his trance that he found himself in and chuckled a little, “I do apologise, I'm afraid I was entranced by your immense beauty.” He said being as charming as he could, having seemingly completely falling for her in that instance. How in hell was that possible? He didn't do that. He sure as heck didn't love Lana when they had sex that night that gave him his son. He loved women, but all women, and yet there was something about this woman, what did she say her name was? She was giving him a certain je ne sais quoi as they say in France. “I'm terribly sorry, what did you say your name was again? I'm Lu..” Trailing off and feeling that maybe saying he was Lucifer Morningstar might not be the best thing to say. He usually always used his assumed name when he was introducing himself to someone for the first time. “I'm Gabriel Preston, nearly gave you my middle name there for some reason.”
Tiffany laughed, she couldn't help it, she also blushed furiously. She hadn't been paid a compliment like that for quite some time. “I said I was Tiffany Weston and you do have a way with words and that accent, wow. I love a good English accent. Pleased to meet you. So what's it like here? I don't know why, but I just seemed to be drawn here, and I applied for a job, not sure if I've got it or not, supposed to be going in there for an interview.” Lucifer realising that he was holding her up, wondered if he should let her go and get on with what she was supposed to be doing, and yet he was compelled to continue to talk with her. “Well, if they don't hire you, I'm afraid they will have made an awful mistake and I would have to go in there and demand that they reconsider their decision.” He chuckled and raised his eyebrow, yes, there was definitely something about her. “Whoa, really? You don't even know me, what if I suck really badly at the job?” She asked, and smirked, because she was actually very good at her job, so her old boss said anyway. He sure was sad to see her go. “I don't bloody care if you do, I'll make them hire you regardless. But something tells me that you don't, that you are the best that law enforcement can have.” He cocked his head to the side and smirked, yes, he was definitely in lust with her, if nothing else and yet, he felt that it was something more. “Well thank you, that is very kind of you to say so.” Glancing at her watch, she really ought to be getting in there and yet, something was keeping her standing here talking to this dark handsome stranger. Lucifer then couldn't help but to say, “Would you like to go for a coffee or tea? Tea is my drink of choice, but I know Americans tend to favour coffee.”
Tiffany laughed, “I really ought to be going in there, but, I'm being pulled towards you for some reason. I can't put my finger on it. If I don't get the job, I have no reason to stay though and that would be sad.” It really would, in the short time she had been speaking to this Gabriel, she was finding herself glowing around him. As she was making up her mind however, John having been looking out of his window, could see what was going on and stepped outside, without even thinking of the rule of referring to Lucifer as Gabriel in front of new people, he yelled, “Lucifer, why the fuck do you always have to stick that nose of yours into things that don't concern you. You'll make her late for her interview you wanker.” Tiffany just stood there, bemused at the way the guy shouted at, wait, didn't he call him Lucifer? Hadn't he said his name was Gabriel? He did say something about almost giving her his middle name. So his middle name was Lucifer? Very intriguing, wasn't Lucifer another name for Satan, the fallen one, son of god? She put up her hand, “Coming, sorry he was just introducing himself, that's all.” To Lucifer she said quietly, “Wait for me? We need to talk about that name of yours.” Lucifer sighed, rolling his eyes at John and gave him that desperate look, the one that said, you know you call me Gabriel in front of new people. However John just pulled a face, as if he didn't care. “Yes, of course, sure. I'll wait around for you to finish.” With that Tiffany went into the station to see to her interview, and Lucifer wandered around outside, wondering why this woman was reeling him in so much.
Tiffany walked into the station, turning once to smile back at Gabriel or Lucifer or whoever he really was. Despite the weirdness over his real name, she still felt some sort of instant attraction to him. It was almost like he was the reason she was here and yet she couldn't explain it at all. It's not like she was anything special, at least she didn't think so anyway. Still, with the town having a name like Pandora, it surely had to be like, well a Pandora's box of creatures. Did that mean that she was special after all and she just didn't know it? Anyway, to concentrate on this interview, she had to get these thoughts out of her head.
She was now sitting across from John, and he cocked his head to the side, basically in the direction of where Lucifer was wandering around. “That guy will be the death of me, honest to god. He sticks his nose into everything that doesn't bloody concern him. Anyway sweetheart, sorry about that, so, basically I just need to know that you are going to be able to cope with working here in Pandora. I don't know if you understand about our town and the residents.” So she had been right to think that Pandora had a meaning. Still, she hadn't known about it before she came. She just knew that they needed a new detective and she felt like she had been drawn here like metal to a magnet.
Tiffany gave him a bit of a smile, “It might help if I got to know what I would be taking on, as I am not entirely sure what you mean. However, firstly, if you are expecting me to work with you, out on cases, you really need to change that attitude of yours. Talking to Gabriel like that, it really wasn't necessary. He had just seen me arriving and come over to introduce himself, is there anything wrong with that?” Damn, thought John, she was feisty. She would fit in here really well, he did have to chuckle at the way she called him Gabriel. If she wanted to know what she was dealing with, then he was going to have to be honest and that included telling her who Gabriel really was. He still couldn't believe that Lucifer had assumed the body of someone called Gabriel, talk about ironic.
John raised his eyebrow, and chuckled a little, “So, I'm going to have my work cut out with you then eh? You don't know that guy the way that I do. He gets under our skin and not in a good way. You do realise that he's Lucifer Morningstar, the devil himself? Yes, to outsiders he always likes to introduce himself as the body he took over, which is Gabriel Preston, but he's really Lucifer Morningstar. He always sticks his nose into things he shouldn't. He's a thorn in my god damn side.” So thought Tiff, Gabriel really was Lucifer, and yet, why didn't she feel sickened by that? If anything she felt even more compelled to get to know him. She sat back a little, getting more comfortable, “That's as may be, but I'd sooner you didn't curse like that in front of me and especially not about him.” She looked at him sternly, if he couldn't agree to that, then he could stick the job. She'd find another reason to hang around this place, and she already knew who that reason would be.
He definitely had a little firecracker on his hands it would seem, but he actually liked that. She would make a good detective, she'd take no shit from anybody, and by all accounts, especially not himself. “Fair enough, I'll try not to talk like that in front of you. Actually, I'm pretty much blown away that you haven't appeared more shocked about who he really is. I'd have expected you to stand up and walk out, well, if you could that is. Most people tend to not be able to leave once they walk through those gates.” Now, if anything was alarming her, it was that. The idea of not being able to leave Pandora again was quite unnerving. “You mean that I won't be able to go and visit family outside of Pandora?” She asked, not that she had a lot, but still, it would be nice to know that if she wanted to visit them, she could. “Depends on what you are love, if you're a witch or something celestial, then yeah, but if you're anything else, no, you won't be able to leave. If you try, you'll get knocked back by some invisible force.” What about humans she wondered, as far as she knew that's all she was. A simple human being. “What if I'm not anything? Pretty sure I am just a normal human being. I won't be able to leave either?” To be fair, John didn't know the answer to that, and that was because of all the residents he knew of in Pandora, not one of them were human. Even of those who thought that they were, turned out not to be. That was the unique thing about Pandora, it brought all weird and wonderful and different people through its gates.
He sat forward with a frown on his face, “Truthfully, I'm not sure to be honest. Most people here in Pandora are something, mostly of supernatural element or celestial. You could always try to leave, but you will get a nasty shock if you can't. The force that you get thrown back is quite powerful.” Well, she had worst things happen to her, not the first time she had been attacked in her job. She even had a bullet wound from being shot at. “I am pretty tough you know, think I can probably deal with a little blast. I'll try it out for myself a little later. So, is this an interview, or just really a formality thing to get me signed up?” John chuckled, she really did have quite the sassy attitude, he liked it. “Well, it was supposed to be a proper interview, but I like what I see and if you're happy to start with us, then the job is yours if you want it.” Tiff thought about it for a few seconds, “I'll take it, providing you are never nasty to Lucifer in front of me again, because if you are, I will kick you into touch and don't think that I won't.”
John sat back again, hands behind his head, and chuckled, “I can't promise that I won't, because I mean, he's a wanker, but I'll do my best, and if I don't, then you can bloody kick me into touch like you said. Deal?” He really hoped so. True, they had Karen, but with the town constantly growing and the spate of trouble they had recently, you could never have too many law enforcers around. Tiffany laughed, and nodded, holding out her hand, “Deal. Just so you know that I will keep you to that, I will kick you into touch if I have to.” John took her extended hand and shook it. “Welcome to Pandora Station then Detective Weston.” He went into his drawer and fiddled about with a temporary identity badge and a temporary police badge and handed them over to her. “I'll get your official ones sorted as soon as I can, you can legally use these for now though. Oh and if you can sign this, then we'll be peachy.” He slid over a contract, “You might want to take it home if you don't fully trust what it contains, bring it back with you tomorrow if you want.” However, Tiff took one look into his eyes and knew that he was a man she could trust, even if he was a bit, well, crude. She signed there and then, “No need, police contracts are nearly all the same.” Sliding it back across, she stood up, “So, I'll see you tomorrow then? I need to get settled into my home today.” John smiled and nodded, “Yep, see you tomorrow, bright eyed and bushy tailed.” She laughed and shook her head as she left the office and made her way back out to where she could see that Lucifer had indeed kept his promise and waited for her.
When Tiffany had come outside, Lucifer had asked if she wanted to go for a coffee, so they were now sitting in the cafe within the shopping mall and both had a latte each. “So, how did it go?” Luci asked her with a smile. She returned the smile and nodded, “Good, not really an interview. Think it was more of a formality to sign the contract really. I did give him a condition on taking the job though.” Luci raised his eyebrow, “Oh, and that was?” She did wonder if she should tell him, or if it would give him a big head. Still, it likely wouldn't make a difference anyhow, as she was definitely attracted to him, almost like she had been pulled here for him. “I said that if he were to talk down to you like that in front of me again, I'd kick him into touch.” She smirked and sipped on her coffee.
This amused Lucifer and he smiled brightly at her, “Well now, that is a lovely thing to hear. Not many people will want to stick up for me, so to speak.” As he watched her, he found that he loved the way she held her mug, the way she kept tucking strands of her hair behind her ear. The almost nervous expression on her face each time they caught one another's gaze. He might just be falling for this woman and that had never happened to him before. Yes, yes, he had been with plenty of women, he wasn't into men, but usually they were just play things for him. With Tiffany, it was different, he couldn't explain it, but he was hanging on her every word, her every breath, her every smile and laugh. Tiff smiled, “Well, you're welcome. I honestly didn't think that there was any need for him to talk to you in the way that he had. However, it did make me wonder about your name. You called yourself Gabriel Preston but he shouted Lucifer. So what's the deal there?”
She was genuinely interested to know and she found herself mesmerised as he sighed, but smiled and sat back and explained all about the name thing. In a way she could understand why he wouldn't want to be so open about who he really was. After all, it was made out that the devil was a bad person, or creature. She probably wouldn't willingly tell who she was if she were the devil. Yet as she continued to spend time with him and talk with him, she couldn't fully comprehend that he was the devil, as he seemed anything but, to her at least. “So, basically you're an angel. I mean everyone tends to forget that the devil, Lucifer, was first an angel. You have the potential to be good and that's all I see in you.” Lucifer almost felt like he could cry, he looked at her with awe. He wasn't used to hearing people say that about him. Everyone feared the devil, and it was also why most people feared his son as well, because the son of the devil was meant to be the Antichrist. However, she was right, he was first and foremost an angel, a fallen, but still an angel. He had all the attributes of one. He still had his wings and all the wonderful powers that came with being an angel, as well as his little desire trick. The only thing that he had that his celestial siblings didn't, were the pesky little horns that would come out when he was being very, well, devilish. He kept hoping that his father would see the good that he had been doing over the past couple of decades and get rid of them for him.
The fact that he still hadn't said anything back to her, and the look he gave her, she wondered if her words had a bit of an affect on him. She was going to say something else when Lucifer finally spoke. “Sorry, it's just not the kind of thing I am used to hearing from someone. All they usually see when they find out my true self, is that devil, the big nasty red beast with a tail and horns and hold a pitchfork. I just wish that dear old dad would finally get rid of the bloody horns. You won't see them right now. They only come out to play when I am being more devilish than normal. The thing is I have done so much good over the past few decades, I thought I would have redeemed myself by now.” Tiff reached a hand across the table and took one of his in her own and squeezed it gently. “Well those people are not me and they clearly don't see what I do. I almost feel as though I was meant to come here to Pandora, for you. Is that a ridiculous thought?” She asked and laughed nervously, still holding onto his hand, which she noticed he was caressing her own with his thumb. Looking at him, she wasn't sure he was even aware that he was doing it, but she liked it, it was a nice feeling.
Lucifer stared deeply into Tiffany's eyes as she said those words, wondering if it was ridiculous for her to think like that, or was she right? Did he feel the same, that she was brought here for him? Sighing gently, he smiled, “No, I don't think it's ridiculous for you to think that. I have been having similar thoughts, but I have to be honest, they scare me a little.” Seeing the confused look on her face, he knew he had elaborate on that. “I'm not used to feeling like that for another person. I've always been a bit of a, well, ladies man. I have never been in a proper relationship with one before.” Tiff laughed a little and shook her head, “Well, everyone has a first of everything. I'm willing to give things a go if you are.” She squeezed his hand again, and still he seemed to be subconsciously caressing her hand. He looked down at their hands together and slowly back up to her face and once again was blown away by her soft features. “There's something you should know, I have a son. He was from one a night one stand, but I am on very good terms with his mother. Would that be an issue?” He didn't mention anything about his daughter, because she had been born a long time ago and as far as he was aware the coven at the time killed her because she was the spawn of Satan. It tore him apart at the time, because at the end of the day, as Tiffany herself had said, he was still an angel. Sometimes he did wish that he hadn't rebelled so much, maybe he'd never have been cast out of heaven.
Tiffany shook her head and smiled at him, “No, of course it wouldn't be an issue. We all have a past after all, and you more than any I shouldn't wonder. I have no children myself, but that's not to say that I wouldn't want them though. I would. I've always wanted to be a mother.” This time it was Lucifer that squeezed at her hand. “I'm sure you will get your wish. I can tell that you would make a great mother.” It had been quite some time since had held a baby. Nick was the last baby that he had held. Even then, he didn't stay a baby for long. Being part angel, he had accelerated growth, and one minute he was a newborn baby, and the next a toddler, then a young boy and now how he looks today, and most likely won't get to look much older than that. Tiff smiled, “I hope so, I have a lot of love to give and want to share it with special people in my life.” She finished her coffee and glanced at her watch, she probably should get going. She still had to sort out her belongings. Thankfully the house that she had moved into in Pandora, was already fully furnished. The décor wasn't to her taste, but she could deal with that over time. It would seem that this town was definitely magical and she liked it. “Well, it's been really nice getting to know more about you Lucifer Morningstar, but I really should get going. I have to get things sorted at home and I start the job tomorrow.” Lucifer having finished his own coffee stood up also. “Will you allow me to escort you home then?” Well, how could she say no to that? “That would be lovely thank you.” So they both left the cafe and mall, and headed in the general direction of the residential area, and as they walked, Lucifer's hand kept gently but awkwardly brushing against hers. In the end Tiffany grabbed a hold of it and they continued to walk with ease hand in hand.
When they finally reached her home, Tiff stopped, “Well, that's me here. Thank you for a lovely afternoon.” She reached up and kissed him on the cheek, which made his skin tingle and he returned the gesture. “It was a pleasure.” Tiff began to open the door to her house and Lucifer said, “Will I see you again?” She smiled brightly, “I guarantee it.” She then scribbled her number down onto a piece of paper that she had in her pocket and handed it to him, “Call me.” She then walked into the house and left Lucifer holding the piece of paper and staring at the closed door, and being pretty certain that he had just met the woman that he would spend the rest of his eternity with.
