Earlier that day Mike had received a telephone call from Lucifer to say that he was to go the Hanaway Coven based at the Hanaway home. The Trinity were ready to help him with his messed up love life. It was still really upsetting him that all he wanted in life was a partner to love and love him back, but his stupid power was stopping it from happening. Oh he could have any pick of the girls with them all falling at his feet, but he just wasn't interested. If only he was bi-sexual, he might just have been in luck. But he wasn't, he was one hundred percent homosexual. So he was now at the door of the Hanaway home and rang the bell with trepidation. He just wasn't sure how they would be able to help him, but he had see if they could, otherwise, he was destined to be alone with love for the rest of his life.
The door was opened a short moment later by Rori as she smiled, “Come on in Mike and follow me.” He smiled back at her, “Thanks.” She then made her way with Mike following to the basement, which was now officially referred to as the Hanaway Coven. Once they both entered, Mike seen two guys. One he knew was the new sibling to Rori, Ryder and the other, well, for some reason, he had never seemed to like him, or trust him. That was of course Nick. Maybe it was simply because he wasn't attractive to men at all, even other gay guys.
Nick hadn't trusted Mike as he had been certain that he was the one killing people at night. However, that was thwarted when it was discovered that it was actually Kandy, also known as Lilith. Nick realised that he owed Mike an apology, and as Mike was trying not to look at him he could tell just how wary he was. Nick approached, and held out his hand with a smile, “Mike, I owe you an apology. I am really sorry I've been so cold with you. I know this is going to sound awful, but I thought you had something to do with all the killings. Now that we've discovered that it's Lilith, well, I feel ashamed. So, I'm sorry. Can we forgive and forget?”
To be fair, Mike was a little stumped at that. He had no idea that Nick had been thinking that about him all that time. Still, if he was part of the Trinity, then he was going to have to accept his apology or he wouldn't get the help, if they could indeed do so. So he took his hand and shook it, “Forgotten and forgiven. This is a crazy town and anything is possible by anyone, but I would never do something like that. I might have all the women at my feet, but you do know that I'm a Merman don't you? I have no control over that at all. I'm just a nice guy with a tortured soul and heart. All I have ever wanted is to have a partner to love but this inside me, this being only attractive to female, makes it impossible. Even gay guys aren't attracted. Do you know what that does to someone like me?” He had to try really hard for the tears not to fall as every time he spoke about it he got really emotional.
Rori moved forward and wrapped him in a hug, “I'm not sure what we can do to help, but we will do all that we can. I'm sorry that you have felt like that.” Being part Fae, Rori had empathy and hugging him she could feel his pain and almost wished that she could somehow to take it away from him. Mike was the one to pull out of the hug, “Thanks, I appreciate it.” Nick then smiled, “Thanks for accepting my apology. So, dad gave me a little run down on the issue, and we've been discussing ways on how we can help. As we're still really new to this Trinity magic, you will have to bear with us.” Mike nodded and sighed a little at the same time but smiled. “Waited long enough, so take your time.” Ryder stepped forward, “I'm Rori's brother Ryder, why don't you take a seat while we continue to look through the grimoire and see if anything comes out at us.” Mike nodded and patted Ryder on the shoulder gently and made his way to a seat and let the three of them do what they had to do.
After about twenty minutes of them leafing through a very old fashioned thick book and discussions, Rori was the one to talk, which gave Mike the impression that she was the lead of the Trinity. “We can't see anything that says how to make a Merman have the same sex fall for them, it's the same with a Siren, they can only attract men. We have seen however, a love potion. We could create that and you can then give it to the guy that you are most attracted to?” She really thought that was going to be the best option. “Downside, it might not last and the person in question could get quite nasty when it wears off. But it could be that in the time it does, they have already naturally fallen for you.” Rori smiled and hoped that he might go for it, as she wasn't sure how else they could help if not. Mind you that grimoire was a huge book and they had yet to go through it all plus on further searches of the chests, they came across a few more different grimoires that all seemed to have different spells, incantations and potions. They could find anything in any one of them to be fair.
Mike thought over what Rori had said, but he began to slowly shake his head, “No, no, I don't want it be done like that. That's like forcing someone to love me, it's fake really. I want someone to fall in love with me because they want to, not because some potion makes them. Is there nothing that can take my power away? Make me human?” That was what he wanted more than anything. He could still stay in Pandora, but if he was human, then he wouldn't have this issue of females dropping at his feet and gay guys not interested in him. It sucked being like this.
Ryder wasn't sure about that, “I don't know if making someone human is something we can do. However, we have not gone through every spell book that we have. So, anything might still be possible if we look for it. You might just have to be really patient is all.” Ryder pointed to the books that were sitting on a shelf, the one on the plinth was the first they found and they made it the most important one, even if it wasn't. Mike just smiled and nodded, “Sure, do what you have to. It's not like several more hours or whatever is going to make any difference to be fair. Shall I go and leave you to it and you can text or call when you are ready? I can go and get a drink and bring you back something too if you like?” Rori nodded, “That might be a good idea, save you hanging around here bored.” She took out her phone, “Give me your number then.” So Mike called her number out to him and she added it to her phone and then sent him a text to test. He smiled as he got it and added her to his own phone address book. “Thanks, okay, I'll see you guys in a bit. What would you want brought back by the way?” Nick spoke first, “Pepsi and a personal ham pizza please, I'll give you the money for it.” Then Rori smiled, “Diet Pepsi and a cheeseburger for me thanks. I'll give you money also.” Then Ryder was last to ask and he asked for the same as his sister. However, Mike put up his hand, “I don't want money guys, this will be my thanks to you for helping even if at the end you can't.” With that he made his way out of the basement, leaving the three of them to go through all the books and try to figure something out to help Mike.

When Mike got the call to return to the Hanaway Coven, he ordered all the food and drinks that they asked for along with something for himself. In the time he had been away, he just spent it walking around the shopping mall. He also spent a bit of time in the arcade, and that's where he was when he got the call.
Twenty minutes after the call he was back in the basement with the Trinity, and they all took time out to sit and eat and drink and then it was back to talking about what they could do to help Mike and his awful situation. It was Rori who spoke up first, again, making out like she was the natural leader of the Trinity, “Mike, we went through all the books, and there doesn't appear to be anything that can take away your power of being a merman, but we did find something else.” Ryder continued with the book in his hand and opened at the relevant page. “We found this written down.” He handed the book over to Mike who took it from Ryder cautiously, so as not to damage it in any way as he looked so old. He read the following:-
Siren/Merman:- This is a creature that can be extremely attractive to the opposite sex. In this case, a siren can lure men or have them fall at their feet, the same is said for a merman, where girls can be lured or fall at their feet. However, if a siren were to be lesbian, another lesbian female would not find them attractive and again the same for a homosexual merman, another homosexual male would not be attracted to them at all. Further investigation in this, we found that if a fellow siren or merman were to be lesbian or homosexual, then they would cancel each other out and be able to fall in love with the other. Therefore it is stated that only a lesbian siren can fall in love with another lesbian siren and only a homosexual merman can fall in love with another homosexual merman.
Mike looked up from the book slowly and sighed, “So, I can find love, but it has to be with another gay merman? Just great, not like there are many of them around. Hell I don't even think there is another straight merman around, never mind a gay one. I'm doomed. Just as well my sister is straight, she'll have no trouble finding the love of her life.” Once again he felt rather defeated over it. He gave them all a bit of a wary smile, “Thanks though.” He stood up to make his exit, but Nick put his hand on his arm to stop him. “Where do you think you're going? We're not done yet with this.” Mike looked puzzled, and rubbed at the back of his neck, “What else can you do?” Ryder smiled and added, “You do know that together, the Trinity has the most powerful magic, right? So, maybe together, we can create a spell to find out if there is a gay merman in town, and if not, we can maybe put up a beacon to attract some to Pandora.” Rori looked at Ryder and grinned, she hadn't even thought about that. “Yes, we could do something like that. There seems to be some sort of pull in this town as it is, all supernatural creatures end up here somehow. So, if there is another merman out there, straight or gay, they are bound to find their way here. But we could add to that beacon to make sure it lures gay mermen here.”
Mike wasn't sure about that. To him that was similar to the love potion they were talking about. “But isn't that just the same as forcing someone to love me with a potion?” Nick shook his head slowly. “Nope. Adding something to the beacon, all it will do is lure the gay mermen here, whether any of them fall in love with you, well that will be up to them. We could find several and lure them all and maybe none of them will fall for you. But, one might, they all might. But all it will do is bring them here, not fall in love with you. So what do you say that we give it a try at least?”
Mike thought that over, and wondered if it was something that he would feel comfortable with. It did sound different to the potion which was forcing love upon someone and he really was lonely when it came to having a partner. There was also the chance that it might not even work. So he slowly nodded his head and a small smile on his face also, “Okay, yeah okay that I'm good with if it works. Sure, go ahead and see what you can do. I'll be really grateful if it works.” In fact he was so grateful, that he was crying happy tears on the inside, but also didn't want to get over excited in case it fell flat. There was nothing to say that what they did would work, or that there would even be a few gay mermen out there, never mind one that could fall in love with him. But at this stage, anything was worth a shot.
Rori smiled, “Then it will be done. The problem is that we have no idea where the original beacon is, so what might be best is for us to create our own. Since we're not sure there is a spell for this, we might have to get another older witch involved, just to help keep us right. So it might take us a little bit of time. However, we will contact you when we are sure that we have it done.” Mike smiled and nodded, “Sounds good to me, I am just thankful that you are willing to do something to help me. Sometimes being a supernatural creature is a curse.” Rori smiled and nodded, “Sometimes, yes. I'm part Fae and my blood is intoxicating to a certain vampire. I almost got killed once. I decided that being part Fae was a curse then.” She then pulled Mike into a hug, “I'll contact you soon, might be tomorrow though.” Mike hugged her back, “That's fine. Thanks again.” With that Mike left, and Rori turned to Nick, “Do you think your mom would be able to come and help us? I'd say Sam, but I think she is more into potions, and your mom is good at spells and things.” Nick smiled and nodded, “Yes, I am sure she will be glad to help us. I'll call her and see if she can come down here now.” Nick walked off to the side and called his mother.

When Lana got the call from her son Nick, she was only too happy to come along and try to do what she could to help them with whatever the problem was. Nick hadn't said too much on the phone, only that they needed help and could she come. She was now at the Hanaway home and in the basement that was now being dubbed Hanaway Coven. She raised her eyebrow slightly at that when she seen the temporary sign on the wall towards the back of the basement. “Hanaway Coven now is it?” Rori smiled, “Well, I'm a Hanaway by name and Ryder wants to go by Hanaway as well, so we felt that it made sense to change it to that. Mind you, there is only really the three of us, unless other young witches want to join in of course.” Then she realised that might sound ageist, and quickly added, “Or any age to be fair.” Lana noticed her quick turn around on that and began to laugh. “I'm not offended, you don't want us old ones in your coven. I like the idea. Anyway, Nick says that you could do with my help, so tell me what it is.”
Rori smiled and nodded, and they all sat down in the little sofa corner that was off to the left at the back. The books were all on the table, including the one that usually sat on the plinth. Nick began, seeing as it was his mother. “Mike Rennie came to see us, after father told him to. You know he's a Merman right?” Lana nodded, “I do, and?” So Nick continued, “Well, he's gay, which I am guessing is unusual for a Merman, as they are supposed to attract females and he does, but well, for obvious reasons he is not interested. However, gay men are not finding him attractive in the slightest, but just want to be his friend. So, came to us to see if there was anything that we could do to help him be more open to the gay community, as it were.”
Lana took that information in, and thought about it. Her initial remedy would be a love potion, but she was certain that one of them would have suggested that. She also knew that they could often be temporary and that when the person that was inflicted with the potion found out, they could get really pissed off and quickly fall out of love with the person. So it's possible that Mike wasn't interested in that. “I assume you mentioned love potion and he didn't go for it? Why is that gay men don't seem to be attracted to him?” Rori was ready for that question and handed her the book with the page open to the information about Siren/Merman and Lana read it through and sighed. “So, he needs another gay merman to fall for him, as they cancel each other's powers out. And as far as I know there aren't any other mermen in Pandora. There's not as many of them as there are sirens. I'm going to take a guess that you want my help to somehow lure gay mermen here?” She smiled and raised her eyebrow and Ryder chuckled and nodded, “Got it in one.” He answered. Now, how easy was that going to be she wondered.
There was already the beacon that brought all supernatural creatures to Pandora, but nobody knew where it was, not even Lucifer. Only the original Campbell witch that made the pact with Lucifer knew where it was and they were long gone. “I suppose the easiest way would be to set up a secondary beacon, but one to specifically lure a soul mate for Mike. It would likely mean using some of his blood, ingredients from Sam's shop and it would be best done at the sea. So Mike would have to be heavily involved in this. If he is willing that is.” Rori nodded and smiled, “I think he would be more than willing. He has been talking of how lonely in love he is. Lonely for a soul mate that is. When we mentioned love potion he didn't go for it, said that it was fake. If this was to specifically bring in his soul mate, that would be different.” Nick and Ryder nodded their heads agreeing. “Yes, definitely. Why don't you call him and get him back here, or given the time, do you want to wait until tomorrow?” Nick asked, as if they needed to get ingredients from Sam's shop, then it wouldn't be open until tomorrow now.
Lana nodded, “Tomorrow. Call Mike and explain what we intend to do, see if he is willing, if he agrees, we will get it set up tomorrow with the special ingredients and Mike's blood. It might also help if he were the one to place the beacon and possibly pour out his longing for a mate.” Rori nodded, “I'll call him then, thank you so much Miss Chandler.” Lana rolled her eyes and sighed, then laughed, “Just call me Lana please. None of this Miss Chandler business, makes me feel old.” She winked, because she didn't exactly look old enough to be Nick's mother, but she was older than her looks gave away as can be the norm with witches. Rori giggled behind her hand, “Sorry, Lana.” Lana stood back to allow Rori to make the call which she did.
It wasn't always easy to tell from a one sided conversation, but it felt like to Lana that Mike was going to be cooperative to what was going to be needed. Shortly after, Rori had pressed the end call button. “He is most definitely up for that. He said that since it would include his blood, and it's about a soul mate, then it wouldn't be fake. So, we're all good to go tomorrow.” Lana smiled, and clapped her hands together, it was something that Lucifer did and she adopted it, she was trying to stop doing it, but it was proving difficult. “Very good, so I'll see you kids tomorrow at Sam's shop and we will get the ingredients that we need, she should know what we will need and she will have it.”
All three of the trinity smiled, “This is going to be pretty much the first major thing that we do together. Quite excited, I can't lie.” Ryder said and Nick nudged him, “It's going to be great.” Rori nodded, and the three of them held their hands together, and as they did so, snowflakes began to fall around them which evaporated into little balls of light. Lana couldn't help but beam, “That's your essence, I love it, it's so pure. See I told you all along Nick that you were of pure essence.” A tear fell from Nick's eye, as he had always wondered why the kids at school had always thought they should avoid him. Being the son of the devil, had it's downfalls. “Thanks mom.” He said and Rori gave him a hug.
Location of Thread: Magical Remedies & The Beach Characters Involved: Rori & Ryder Hanaway, Nick Morningstar, Lana Chandler, Mike Rennie & Sam Austen Played By: Elle Fanning, Alexander Calvert, Gavin Leatherwood, Kristin Kreuk, Matthew Daddario & Evie Lilly
The next day in the morning, Rori and Ryder met Nick and his mother Lana outside Sam's shop. They knew that they would need set ingredients for the beacon, but Sam would be more in the know of what they would need exactly for what they wanted to do. So they entered Sam's shop together, and the bell alerted her and she came through from the back. She was nearly always in the back of the shop, constantly checking stock. She smiled brightly at the troop that walked in. “Hey guys, what can I do to help? I am going to take a guess that this has something to do with the new Trinity?” She was so excited for Rori, Ryder and Nick. It took very special and very magical people to form a Trinity, the whole power of three thing was something that all witches spoke about being able to hold.
Lana, since being the oldest with the kids, spoke up first, taking the unintentional lead. “Hi Sam. Yes, it is sort of. What we intend to do, or should say the kids intend to do is a special kind of magic that will involve certain ingredients and we wanted your help with that.” Sam beamed at them, “Sure, of course, anything I can do to help, you know that.” Looking at Rori she added, “Have you thought any more about working with me in the shop at the weekends?” Rori had been all caught up in the magic of Pandora, that she had completely forgotten about doing that. “Oh yeah, sorry, once things calm down with getting to grips with this whole power of three thing, then definitely. I would love to have more knowledge on potions.” Sam grinned and nodded, “Fabulous. Right, so tell me more about this spell that you intend to carry out.” She grabbed her notebook and listened to all of them explain that it wasn't exactly a spell, but more a sort of beacon to draw a specific gay Merman to Pandora for Mike. Sam thought that was a really sweet thing for them to do.
After thinking about it for a few moments, she spoke up, “So, this is for a soul mate for Mike who is a Merman, clearly he needs a gay one, and every other normal typical gay guy only wants to be friends with him. So it takes another gay Merman to cancel each other's negative side out, am I right on that?” She wanted to confirm and Ryder nodded, “That's right.” Sam then continued, “So this beacon, is going to be best placed at the beach, close to the sea, so that it brings them in. I would suggest a blood beacon if you haven't thought of that already and add in water lily and sandalwood, oh and a couple of seashells, from the beach. I have both of those in the shop, so that's not a problem. Together with Mike's blood and having it placed near to the sea water, should be enough, with the power of three blessing it so to speak.” Lana smiled and nodded, she had been pretty much thinking along a similar thing. She just wasn't always completely sure of the right ingredients for this kind of thing, especially when she didn't want it to fail. “Well we contacted Mike last night to make sure that he was happy with what we were going to do and that we would have to use some of his blood. So, if you want to get the other ingredients together for us, we'll call Mike and ask him to meet us at the beach to carry out the rest, thanks Sam.” Sam nodded and smiled, “Of course, I'll be back soon.”
Sam went into the back, leaving all of them out front and picked up a clean empty cork lid jar. She removed the lid and placed in the sandalwood and the dried water lily petals and then came back out to the front and handed the jar over to Lana. “That's the sandalwood and dried water lily petals, so all you need now is Mike's blood and then seal the jar and place it into the sand close to the water. Then whatever the kids need to do to seal the beacon so to speak. It might also help if Mike were to use his voice to sing of love and longing. He will most likely know what will be best to do in that respect.” Lana nodded, Mike using his voice should reinforce that the beacon was to draw someone specific for him along with his blood in the jar. “Thanks Sam, this is great.” Sam smiled, “Not a problem, that's what me and my shop are here for.” Looking at Rori she winked and laughed lightly.
With that, Lana, Rori, Ryder and Nick left Sam's shop and began to make their way to the beach. As it wasn't exactly walking distance, Lana agreed to drive them there. As they were on their way, Rori contacted Mike and told him where to meet them. Mike explained that the beach was a fairly big place, and that could they make it somewhere specific. As Rori hadn't been there before, she left that up to him and and asked them to go to the lighthouse. “He wants us to meet him at the lighthouse.” Rori confirmed and Lana nodded and glanced at her quickly, as she was in the front, where the guys were in the back. “Makes sense.” They continued the rest of the journey in a comfortable silence.
It took them around an hour to get the lighthouse at the beach, and Lana pulled up nearby and once they were all out of the car, she locked it. Mike was already waiting for them, he either had put his foot down or lived closer, the latter being more likely. Mike came towards them once he had them in his sights. “Hi guys. I am still really grateful that you hopefully have found a way to help me. So, what exactly is it that you are going to do?” He asked, Rori spoke up, again showing that she was pretty much the leader of the trio. “We're going to create a beacon of sorts.” She had the jar in her hands, “In this it contains dried water lilies and sandalwood. This is where we need you to drop some of your blood. Then we will seal it and you have to place it into the sand close to the water.” Mike nodded, sounded simple enough and then Lana added, “Sam, the woman from the magical shop, said that it might have more pull if you were to sing a song of love and longing as well.” Mike rubbed at his neck, he wasn't sure if he was comfortable singing in front of them all, but if he had to, then so be it. Shrugging he gave a lop sided smile, “I suppose if it is going to help then I will have to do it.” The smile tuned into a bit of a chuckle. Then he added, “So, how do you get my blood, I assume you will have to cut into the palm of my hand? That's what I see them do in the movies.” He laughed some more.
Nick sort of laughed, “Yeah, but don't worry, I can heal your wound straight away. Just grit your teeth together as we cut the skin.” Ryder came and held the jar open underneath Mike's hand and Nick used the knife to slice into the palm of his hand which made Mike wince in pain, and given that Nick once didn't trust him, he couldn't help but smirk as he did so. Once there were a good few drops of blood in there, he moved his hand over Mike's and a clear glow formed and then the wound was healed. Mike raised his eyebrow, “That's amazing. So now what?” Ryder still holding the jar, sealed it with the cork and handed it to Mike. “Now we go close to the water, but not the edge, we don't want the jar being washed away. Bury it and then do your singing thing.” So they all made their way close to the water's edge and Mike got down onto his knees and began to create a hole in the firmer sand, that wasn't also soaking wet and soon he had the jar buried with sand on top. He looked up, “So do I have to sing this song now, or at the same as you guys do whatever it is you need to do?” He hated singing with an audience, but if needs must.
Lana spoke up, “Probably best if you do it at the same time as Rori, Ryder and Nick add their power of three essence to the area.” Mike nodded, right, so he was going to have an audience. He better put on his best voice then. He mentally chuckled to himself. So with Mike on his knees and the jar in place, Rori, Ryder and Nick stood around them with their hands joined so that they were sort of in a circle around Mike and now they just had to wait for Mike to sing his song, their snowflakes that turned into little balls of light were already starting to fall around Mike.
Mike began to sing the following lyrics over and over:-
“Silent night surrounding me, On the shore of wistful sea, A kindest heart made me believe, The world as I wish it to be”
The haunting sound of the words were making Lana shiver, it was simply beautiful and as all three of them held their hands around him in a circle with their snowflakes falling and turning into balls of light, Mike sang until there was a bigger glow of light that formed from all the smaller ones and then it was gone and the snowflakes stopped falling. Lana touched Mike's shoulder then, “That should it be done. Now, it is just a case of waiting. One day, your soul mate should be drawn here and you will know it, he will know it, the soon as your eyes meet.” She put her hand on her heart, she always did love connecting people like that and Mike looked thoughtfully at her and had a tear fall. “I honestly can't thank you enough for doing this. I mean, yes I have family and I have friends, but nothing beats having someone to love and to love you back, a soul mate.” Lana nodded, “I get you, and you are so right. Everybody needs someone to love and to get that love back in return unconditionally.” Rori, Ryder and Nick came out of their circle and smiled at Mike who was now standing on his feet. “Happy to help, I really hope that it works, you must let us know when it does.” Rori said, and Mike nodded, “Of course I will and if it does, you guys are going to get the biggest thank you gift ever.” He laughed a little and then made his way to his car to head back home, feeling happier than he had for a long time, knowing that soon his heart might just be full of the love that he had been yearning for.
Once Mike was gone, Ryder smiled, “So that was officially our first power of three magic, I wonder if it worked?” Rori shrugged, as obviously none of them would know until it did. “I don't know, but I hope so, for Mike's sake.” Nick grinned, “Pretty sure it will work, our magic is strong and Sam knows her stuff with ingredients.” Lana smiling added to that, “We'll just have to wait and see, but I think it will, great work guys on your first power of three spell. I don't know about you, but I could do with a coffee, fancy a trip to the mall cafe?” They all nodded their heads, and off they went back into Pandora town, to get a well deserved refreshment.
