After leaving the kids, Lucifer went in search of Kandy, or Lilith to be more precise now that he knew the truth. He tracked her scent to the woods in Pandora, well, he thought, surprise surprise indeed. It was always a favoured place of Lilith in all the time he had known her. He wasn't even going to watch her silently, he was too angry, he was just going to go in, all guns blazing. “I should have bloody known you'd find a way for me not to sense you in Pandora, Lilith.” He stated, eyes flickering red as the anger coursed through his veins.
Oh, thought Lilith, so, he had managed to uncloak her, what a pity, what a pity indeed. It meant that the fun for her was now over. She shouldn't be too disappointed though, she had left the calling card for him. Ripping out that wolf's heart, was the sign for him she wanted to give. However, she hadn't expected him to actually work out that she was Kandy, just that she was around. She turned slowly with a small smile on her face and held her hands out, “Yes, it is me. Well done. I had wanted you to know that I was around, but I have to say that I'm disappointed that you found out who I was. How did you manage that exactly?” She asked, wondering if he would actually tell her with an idea that he wouldn't. Lucifer always did like to play with her emotions.
He wasn't sure if he wanted to tell her and yet a part of him couldn't be bothered with a cat and mouse chase game with her. He had promised the Campbell Coven that he would keep his demons on a tight leash and within Pandora's gates. He had done a good job of it too and as far as he was aware, still was. It wasn't like Lilith could leave Pandora, or at least she shouldn't be able to. One thing with her being cloaked all the time she had been here, was that he hadn't been able to follow her every move. However, since there had been no reports of any weird happenings outside of Pandora, he had to assume that she had stayed within the confines of the community, which was at least one good thing. “Well, when you ripped out the heart of Jonah, there was a witness. You hadn't banked on that, had you? They came forward and described you and in fact they gave your name, not your real one of course. The assumed name, the Kandy, I am a hooker Barrett one. So, it didn't take much for me to figure out you had to be Lilith. Ripping hearts out is your thing.” True, it was and that was why she had done that, to leave a sign, but it didn't tell her how he knew that she was Lilith. She could have been anyone. “Yes, yes, but how did you know that she was me, is what I mean. This cloak was carried out by a dark witch, it could only be broken by one, unless...” She trailed off, having a think.
Only another dark witch could break the cloak, or a trinity of good witches. Her eyes opened wide, there was a trinity in Pandora now? Oh, that was exciting. The power she could get from them. She rubbed her hands together, “You have a trinity born in Pandora now. That is the only explanation as the witch who gave me this spell, said she wouldn't willingly come to Pandora, because she knew you were here.” As much as Lucifer wouldn't want to give away all of his secrets, he wasn't sure he could get away without telling her the truth about this. There was no dark witches in Pandora, as far as he was aware. Yes, there were witches that could go to the dark side, but they always came back. When Pandora residents talk of a dark witch, they mean one that went over the line and never came back from it.
“We do, yes. But that is all I'm telling you as you will never get your hands on any one of them. If you do, you will have me to answer to.” Eyes glowing red now, even his skin starting to change colour. Realising that she had hit a nerve, Lilith laughed, “Oh my, that can only mean that it contains at least one Campbell witch and oh wait, I've got it, your son. He's a part of it, isn't he? Oh, to get my hands on the power of that, that would be something else. A Nephilim Witch with celestial blood, that would be really something.” She laughed evilly at him. Of course she'd never get her hands on his precious son, Lucifer would make sure of that, but it didn't mean that she couldn't taunt and tease him over it. In one quick movement, Lucifer had one of her arms twisted around her back and he held her tightly to him and stared right into her face, full devil mode, “You leave my son alone, you will leave the trinity alone. If you don't, you know what will happen. Something I should have done a long time ago.” He threatened and all Lilith could do was laugh. She laughed so much that she had tears falling from her eyes. The pain of the laughter. His reaction was exactly what she had expected and in as quick a movement as his before, she was soon out of his grasp.
“Foolish, you know you can't keep a hold of me for a long time. I'm just as powerful as you if not more so. Don't forget I'm the mother of all demons. I'm the strongest of them all.” She glared at him, but Luci just grunted and shook his head, “You might be, but I'm the King of Hell and you answer to me, you remember that.” Lilith rolled her eyes and made gestures with her hands that Luci was talking too much for her liking. “Yeah, yeah and have you forgotten how you go that special ring of yours?” The one that gave him in his mortal body complete invincibility and kept him young, and stopped the mortal body from burning out with his essence. “I haven't forgotten, but I also know plenty of witches who would make me something just as good if you were to want it back, no harm there.” He retorted which annoyed Lilith, he had an answer for everything and it pissed her off.
So, was this all they were going to do? Just throw insults at each other and try to attack one another every now and then? Or was Lucifer Morningstar actually going to do something about her presence? “Is this it then? Just a slanging match between us? Because I can do this all day and night if you want.” Lilith taunted. Lucifer shook his head, he didn't want to do that, but he and Lilith had been friends once a long time ago, and he always tried to remember that, but sometimes she made it too complicated for any sort of friendship to remain. “If you behave yourself and stop killing my residents, then I'll leave you be. But you see you made me that fake promise one time before and now look, how many people have you taken from this town? There's Jonah and I know of at least one more, when we all thought you were nothing more than a devourer demon. I really feel that now, I have no option but to take you out for good.” Lilith put on a pouted look and hung her head, “Oh dear, I must have been very bad if you feel you have to take me out for good. How exactly are you going to do that? You know I'm as difficult to kill as you are yourself.” She mocked, she was the mother of demons, she wasn't easy to take out either. Though, to be fair, she wasn't sure if Lucifer had the power to take her out or not, was she about to play about with that? She wasn't sure, but she was going to take as much pleasure as possible in winding up just the same.
Luci shook his head. “You think because you're the mother of demons that you're unbreakable? I'm not just the devil, I'm an angel, and I can take out any demon that I want. One snap of the fingers and you'd be gone for good. So please, for the love of hell, don't tempt me, not wait, do, please do. Because I've had enough of you, taunt me all you like. You think I'll miss you? Don't be bloody stupid. I don't need you.” Though, the truth was, he couldn't remember the last time he had been in a loving relationship. Lana didn't count, as it had been a one night stand that resulted in his son. The only good thing to come from that. He didn't even really have a friend, to speak of. Maybe James might become one, but that was a slow burner it would seem. Though, maybe now that his son and James's kids were cousins, it might help, since technically they were related to a degree. There was his good demon friend, but she hadn't been around in a while, so yes, he could be lonely at times, but lonely enough to keep this mad demon around who could create hell on Pandora when his back was turned at every second? Maybe, maybe not.
“Oh but Luci, I think you do. You have nobody but your son and what can he do for you? Nothing, not like what I can do for you. Don't you remember the good times we used to have? You need me, you need me for fun, come on, being the good guy it doesn't suit you, let your demon out to play, come play with me. We can be bad together, we're so good at being bad.” She put her hands around his neck as she started to kiss his cheek, trying to appeal to his better nature, or should that be, his naughty one? Shivers ran down his spine and it might just be that it might very well be working. Was Lucifer about to turn to the dark side once more?
Introducing Mazikeen Roberts played by Lesley-Ann Brandt
What was he doing? Letting Lilith get under his skin like that. Her touch was driving him insane. It had been a long time since he had been this close to a woman. Well, not strictly true, he had been a bit of a ladies man ever since he had the one night stand with Lana. But he had changed that behaviour a few years ago, he was looking for someone special to settle down with, someone who would take him for what he was. Getting involved with Lilith again would be a big mistake. He liked who he was now, he didn't want to be the bad boy again. So he grabbed her hands and pulled her away from him roughly. “Nope, not going to bloody happen. I'm not that guy any more, I like who I am now and I do not want you trying to change me. I'm good for this town and that's the way it is going to stay.”
Lilith scowled at him. She could have sworn her advances would have been accepted and reciprocated. What had happened to her little devil boy? Pouting once more, she glared at him, “Well, you're no fun any more, are you? So, what exactly are you going to do with me then?” He had no idea. He knew that he should be putting her down for good, but could he really do that to the mother of demons? Not that she took care of them. Oh no, that fell to him as King of Hell, she did nothing to keep them under control, it was all down to him. “I haven't a bloody clue. If I were to ask you to behave, and you said you would, would you be lying to me? Wait, don't answer that, of course you would.” Lilith laughed, she couldn't help it.
Luci knew her too well, of course she'd not behave. “You could always send me to hell, it's not like you haven't done that before, again and again.” She raised her eyebrow at him and Luci grunted and glared. “Exactly! I've sent you there, how many times and yet you keep coming back like a bloody bad penny. Sending you to hell wouldn't be enough. No, you need to be stopped.” Problem was, could he be the one to put a stop to her? He wasn't sure. They had history, not all of it good, though depends on how you look at it. When he was bad, yes, they had great times, but now that he was trying so hard to be the good guy, those times were not great. They made him a bad person, he really didn't want to be that person again. No, it wasn't to please old dad, it was for himself. He himself liked who he was now. He was trying to set a good example to his son. Lilith traced a finger around Luci's mouth, “But you can't put me down, that's the problem. If you could, you would have done it a long time ago. You don't have it in you to put me down. You never could, never will.” She forced his mouth open with her finger, toying with his affections once more.
Again, he was being taken in by it. The feelings that she was stirring within him, it could make him do moves on her that would make even himself blush and that was saying something from the devil himself. It was taking all his restraint not to give in to her, but no, no, he wasn't going to do it, and this time, he used his invisible power to grab her in a choke hold around the neck. “I told you, I was not going to do this with you.” He kept the invisible grasp around her neck, while she just laughed, struggling to get free from the grip that he had on her.
In the shadows, someone had been watching the scene unfold, they wanted to see exactly what Lucifer was going to with Lilith, or at least the vessel that was containing Lilith. If he gave in to her, they were going to be so pissed off at him. Lilith, mother of demons, yeah, when it suited her. She never cared for her so called kids, her demons. She abandoned them every chance she got. She abandoned them when they needed it the most. Was it any wonder she was as twisted as she was? See, to most of the demons, Lilith wasn't really their mother, she was just 'mother' as the overall mother of demons, but to this person, she was their mother, born and bred and yet she still abandoned them.
Thankfully Lucifer wasn't getting taken in and that made this person feel good, still, maybe it was time they gave a helping hand to their friend. The friend that they hadn't seen in a long time. They had been underground most of the time. They had been scared to come up to earth, especially to Pandora, as they knew that once here, they'd not be able to go anywhere else. Still someone needed their best friend, and they were so lonely and their best friend was holding their mother in a choke hold and that filled them with so much glee. Walking out from the shadows, the voice soon said, “Need help to send that bitch back to where she belongs Luci?” The shock of the voice that was heard from behind him, made his hold on Lilith stop and soon she was free, choking, gasping for air. “Maz, how did you know I needed you?” He said, as he threw his arms around his demon friend.
Luci and Maz had been friends for a long time. She was a demon and she was actually Lilith's daughter, but Maz hated her as much as he did. “Well, she's been causing trouble here in Pandora. I have had her locked in hell several times, but like a bad penny, she always seems to find her way out. Not sure what you can do.” He said matter of factly, after all, could Maz really take out her own mother? Luci wasn't sure, but realising that Lilith might pay more attention to her daughter, he decided to see what would come of it. “Do your worst my little demon.” He said, the term of endearment he always used when referring to Mazikeen, known as Maz.
Before she could say or do anything though, Lilith had to speak, “Mazikeen, my daughter. Its so good to see you again, oh how I have missed you my sweet child.” Maz glared at her, “Don't give me that sweet child bull crap, you're no mother to me than Luci's mother.” Lilith put her hand up to her heart in mock hurt, “Blasphemy child.” Not taking any of her nonsense, Maz ran up to her and held her in a vice like grip in one swift movement and had one of her famous knives to her neck, “I'll gut you like a fish, if you don't leave my friend alone, and stop messing about with the residents here.” Lilith laughed, she laughed so hard, and with a snap, had sent her daughter flying across the ground. “You forget that I am way stronger than you my sweet child, you can't take me, neither of you can. Nobody can take out the mother of demons, no matter how hard they try.” Luci hadn't missed a beat and caught the flying Maz into his arms to save her from actually falling to the ground. “How can you treat your own daughter like that?” Lucifer yelled, not that it was a question that needed an answer, the truth was, Lilith only cared about one person, and that was herself. “Because I can, because she's mine and I can do what I like. Now, I'm done.” Just like that in a puff she was gone, leaving Luci with Maz.
Maz looked at her friend, “I hate the way she does that. Where has she gone now? She can't have left, as nobody can unless they're a witch or celestial is that right?” Luci nodded, “Correct. I can still sense her though, so she's not gone far, she's here. She's just teleported somewhere. I guess I will have to deal with her another time. What made you come up to earth, to Pandora specifically?” Maz smiled, “I needed to see my friend, is that okay?” Lucifer pulled her into an embrace and kissed the top of her head, “It's more than alright. Drink at Lux?” He asked and she grinned, “You know me so well.” With his arm around her shoulders, he walked her to the club that he owns in the complex. It was a nice enough evening to enjoy the walk there, and it was so good to have his friend back in his life once more. He would deal with Lilith another night. She got a reprieve, but so help him, if another dead body turns up, he would be through with her once and for all.
