It had been a week or so since James and Mike had spoken to Lucifer about the possibility of the devourer demon actually being Lilith. Sam had managed to figure out that there was indeed a cloaking spell in Pandora, but not just one, but at least three, maybe more. Now Lucifer was almost certain that Lilith was likely under at least one of them. Who were the others? He wanted to find out which one Lilith was. He wanted to see if he could talk her out of causing trouble, like he had managed to do the last time. However, he wasn't convinced, eh had a feeling that this time he might have to put her down for good.
He was all about his demons getting second chances, but to be fair, Lilith was on her final chance and she'd had way more than two. It was likely because she was the mother of all demons and she had been the one to give him his ring that he always wears, so he had a bit of a soft spot for her if you could call it that. However, if she was going around killing the residents of Pandora, he couldn't have that and it might just be time for him to get all devil on her ass. However, having no idea where to even begin looking for her, finding her was going to be a bit difficult. He only had the description from Mike to go on with regards to how the devourer demon looked. Whether that would actually be Lilith would remain to be seen.
Lucifer was out for a walk, taking a turn of doing the rounds of the whole neighbourhood watch that he started up himself many decades ago. Suddenly up ahead, he saw a figure that didn't look overly familiar to him. He knew that Pandora always got new residents, it was the magic of the place. All supernatural and not fully human beings always ended up here, like a magnet, Pandora just grew with them. She was quite leggy from the back, blonde and was walking the smallest dog that he had ever seen. It was almost an excuse for a dog.
He always liked to introduce himself to the newer residents of Pandora, so that he could try to get to know them a little better, find out what their true agenda for being here was. So he did a little run to catch up with her. “Well hello there, what a lovely evening it is here in Pandora, don't you think?” The dog stopped first followed by the woman herself. She slowly turned around and flashed him her most genuine biggest smile. “Why hello, yes it is. The perfect weather for my little Pippin.” She said as she picked the tiny dog up and ruffled the top of it's head. Lucifer looked at it and tilted his head to the side, “Well, aren't you an adorable ball of fluff?” He asked, as he made to pet it, but it growled the biggest growl that a small dog could make. He snatched his hand away quickly, “Very well, not so adorable it would seem.” The woman laughed and shook her head, “I'm ever so sorry young man, he just isn't good with strangers and in particular men. Now if you don't mind I'm in a bit of a hurry, there's a good man.” She made to turn away, but Lucifer wasn't going to let her get away that quickly.
He put his hand on her shoulder, “Why would anybody be in such a rush on such a glorious night do tell? It's not like you work at night, not when you have a dog with you.” Lucifer said and then held his hand out, “Gabriel Preston, and you are?” Going by his assumed name as he always does when introducing himself to a new face for the first time. Kandy knew that she wasn't going to get away so easily which was annoying her, she was hungry. She sighed gently and took a silent deep breath in and returned the same smile as before. “Very well then. It's lovely to meet you Gabriel Preston, I'm Kandy Barrett. You may have heard of me actually.” She liked to think that she was famous, or at least the human that her demon form had taken over had at any rate. However, she had been a very struggling actress of her time. For some reason Lucifer had tuned out of what she was saying, all he kept hearing over and over was the name Kandy Barrett and he began to chuckle. “Something funny young man?” She asked feeling deeply insulted. “Bloody hell, I'm beginning to think you do have a night job after all, with a name like that. Kandy, a bit of a hooker's name if you ask me. Maybe you're off to work after all. My bad. I'll leave you be.” He shook his head and continued to chuckle.
This time it was Kandy to put her hand on him, his arm, to be precise. “I do not find that in the least bit funny. How dare you insult me like that. Who do you think you are?” She asked, pouting and hand on her hip, as the other was still holding her dog that was constantly growling and snarling at Lucifer. Oh, if only she knew who he was, she might not be talking back to him in such a way. Keep it together Luci, keep it together, he said to himself, he didn't want to give anything away, not until he knew more about this mysterious woman. “My apologies, but it is a hooker's name...” He trailed seeing the look on her face and put his hand up, “Okay, okay, I'm done.” Kandy glowered at him, she wasn't sure she liked his smart mouth and persona and if he knew what was good for him, he'd soon learn to stay out of her way.
She was very touchy thought Luci, interesting. He was about to do his mojo on her when she began to talk, “Well, I really am very busy tonight, not in the way that you think, so, I do have to go. Goodnight.” The dog was actually her bait, she used him to lure out unsuspecting people so she could devour them while they gushed over the fluffy little thing. Why was she so quick to get away from him? He never did like that, it made them sound very suspicious to him. “The night is very young yet.” Making sure he held her gaze, he tried, “So, tell me Kandy, what is it that you truly desire?” She just blinked a few times and stared blankly at him, frowning, then slowly turning to annoyance. “To leave, you're rude and I'm afraid I do not like you very much. Now, goodbye.” She made to turn away, and Luci was quick to grab a piece of hair off her clothing that had fallen onto it. The fact that she failed to fall under his mojo wa a worry in itself and he didn't trust her, the way that she always wanted to leave and the way she spoke, like she was from a very old era of time. He wanted to take that piece of hair to get analysed, to see if it was possible this person was under a cloak, because if she was, then it might just be possible that this was Lilith and if it was, she should know fine well who he was, she had seen him in the face many a time. Of course it might not be her, and nothing screamed out at him that it was her, but he also wasn't going to rule anything out at this stage. If it was her, then she was playing good at pretending she didn't know him. Unless of course, he was talking to the human and the demon was being suppressed, which could sometimes happen when the demon and the human had a pact to co-exist peacefully with one another.
Lucifer made his way back to his house, he was going to call Lana, the mother of his son Nick and see if she could help him with the hair and try to figure out if it belonged to someone who was cloaked and if it did, then the chances were at slightly better odds that it could be Lilith that was lurking inside of this woman's body.
Luci didn't even wait until he went home to contact Lana. Instead, as he about turned, heading in the direction of the Chandler home, he contacted her via mobile. He explained that he needed her help with something. It's not like he wasn't around her home often anyway. He was always there visiting Nick when his son wasn't at his home instead. She was only too happy to help him. So he was soon outside her house and ringing the bell. Lana opened it almost immediately, obviously expecting him. She smiled, “Hey, come on in. Nick's not at home right now though.” Luci smiled, “It's fine, I'm here for you anyway, it's not like I don't see enough of our son.” He chuckled, and Lana raised her eyebrow, “And here I thought that side of our relationship had come to an end, but if you insist.” She began to peel the strap of her vest down over her shoulders in a very provocative way and then stopped and laughed. “Sorry, just messing, couldn't resist it with that line you gave me.”
Luci already knew that she was messing about, as she was in a full blown relationship with a new fella. One he actually approved of, for once. Not that she needed his approval to date someone, but he always vetted them, as he had to make sure that the person she was with, was good enough to be around his son. “You always were a tease Chandler.” Lana laughed, and closed the door, walking into the lounge room with Luci following behind. “So, what can I do for you? You never really gave much away on the phone.” She poured him a Scotch, as she knew that's what he always liked to drink, having poured herself a Bacardi and coke. She handed him the glass and then sat down, crossing her legs over, glass in hand and sipping from it, waiting for Lucifer to tell her what was troubling him.
He took a few sips, wanting to savour it, should the need arise to down the rest of it when he got fired up over talking about the possibility of Lilith being around in Pandora. “A girl earlier, or I should say a woman, maybe not even that.” He frowned, as his eyes narrowed. Lana laughed a little, “Lucifer and women trouble? Never.” Luci glared at her and she knew that he hadn't taken too kindly to that statement. So she put her hand up, “Jesting.” He snapped back into a better frame of mind and smiled a little. “I really do have a bad reputation, don't I? Anyway, this person, they were weird. Like I'm not convinced that they are actually human, and if they are, they are most definitely not from this time.” This piqued Lana's interest and she sat forward, resting her chin on her hand. “Please, do tell me more, fascinating.”
So, Lucifer told Lana all about his weird confrontation with the rather polite and rather aged Kandy. Even told her about the joke he made of her name which made Lana shake her head but laugh also. He was awful for that kind of thing. When he told her that his desire mojo hadn't worked on her, that got Lana interested more than ever. “So, she was immune to it? That is interesting, as nobody usually is, unless they're an angel or demon.” That's when it hit her, she had heard of the rumours of the possibility that Lilith was wandering around cloaked in Pandora. She and Sam had worked on a spell together to discover that there had been a few people with a cloaking spell on them, they just hadn't been able to tell who those people were. “Wait, so you think that this Kandy, might actually be Lilith? That she has taken over the body of this failed actress? I have to say, I have never heard of the name Kandy Barrett, so she clearly hadn't made it big in my time either.” Luci nodded, “Exactly, I think it might be Lilith, but if she has this cloak on, I can't tell it's her. The whole mojo not working gives me the idea that it might be her, but still can't be certain. Also, I had never heard of the name in all of my time either, so was definitely a failure.”
Lana sipped on her drink and then put the glass down, “So, you want me to try and find out if Kandy is indeed Lilith? Is that why you're here?” She finally asked, knowing that when Lucifer came to visit these days, it was to either spend time with their son, or to ask a favour from her. “You're so perceptive Lana, yes, if you could. I managed to snare a few loose hairs from her jacket before she marched off away from me. Would that be enough?” Lana was quite a strong witch and so he hoped that the hair would be enough to use for DNA to try and figure out if she had a cloak on her or not.
She took the hair from him, that he was holding out to her, which was in a small cellophane bag. “I'm not sure how much I can tell you from this. I could probably say if it's come from someone who is cloaked or not, but will I be able to say if it's Lilith? I'm not sure. I'll do my best for you though, you know that.” Luci smiled and gave a nod of his head. “That's all I ask, thanks Lana. I knew I could count on you.” She stood up, with the bag in her hand and began to make her way down to her basement, where she carried out al her witchcraft. She didn't have to ask if he wanted to come with her, she heard his footsteps, he had decided to follow her anyway.
Luci stayed in the background, while Lana carried out her work, not wanting to interrupt her or get in her way, but also too eager and interested to know what the outcome would be, to stay in the lounge. Lana went to work, thankful that Lucifer was staying quiet to give her concentration. She placed the hair within a circle of stones, with hex symbols on them. Quietly she muttered some inaudible incantations. One by one as she did this, the stones began to glow, from white to blue to red and back to white, as the spell was carried out. After about ten or fifteen minutes, she was finished. “So, she definitely has a cloak on her. Is it Lilith? I can't tell, I'm sorry. I think it would take some really dark magic, or very strong magic to discover that. I don't ever like dipping into my darker side, always worried that I'll never come back from it. However, we do have a Campbell witch among us and if I'm not mistaken, from the rumour mill, she's also my niece through marriage. That makes her and Nick related. They together might be strong enough to get the answer that you're looking for.” She said returning the hair in the bag back to Lucifer.
He took it from her and put it back into his wallet carefully. “Wait, you said that Nick and Aurora are related? The last I heard was that she now has a twin brother. So they would be strong enough on their own, what if Nick was a third wheel to them? You know like some sort of triquetra of magic?” Lana's mouth fell open, “I didn't think of that. I did hear about a twin appearing from nowhere. That poor James, he's been hit with a few shocks since turning up in Pandora. I do wonder how he is handling it all. If that was me, I'd not be coping at all well, my whole world being turned upside down like that.” Luci nodded, and looked down for a moment.
Yes, it really was rather mean of his wife to have done what she had, even if he could sort of understand the reasoning behind it, in keeping Aurora away from the magic. However, these things always had a way of coming out and now it would seem that this had come to bite Carolyn in the arse. Serves her right really. Even he had believed that she was dead. “I should call in on him and see how he's doing to be fair. It's been quite the shock for him to deal with. Then I can maybe talk to him about the possibility of Rori and Ryder's magic maybe being strong enough to get the answers that we want.” Lana smiled and nodded, “I'll talk to Nick as well, as you might be onto something about the union thing. Its been a long time since there's been a trinity of witches with so much power, and it would be amazing if it were our kids here and now. Something to make us feel really proud.” Not that she and Lucifer weren't already proud of Nick, and no doubt James was already proud of his, but it was always really good when you had something special like that happening around you. “In fact, I wonder if anybody has spoken to Aurora and Ryder about the possibility that they might even be Gemini Twins. If they are, they better hope that the Campbell Coven never find out about that, as they will make them try to join their powers, and that can kill one of them, if one isn't as strong as the other.”
That was something that he hadn't thought of. The fact that both Rori and Ryder were Campbell witches already made them strong, if they were also Gemini Twins, then they would be well sought after with the Campbell Coven. Now as much as he'd had an alliance with them, he didn't want to turn Rori or Ryder over to them, as he knew that they were hard on first born female witches. Now he had even more reason to keep her protected from the Coven and he would do that with every fibre of his being. “I'm definitely going to talk to James about this. I have already put hell hounds outside their house to protect Rori, after something weird happened. All to do with that Camilla Wells in Luna Cove.”
Lana frowned, as she rubbed at the back of her neck, “How in hell did she find out about Aurora?” She asked, not quite following, forgetting that she had been through there with Ryan, the whole reason why Ryder had come into their lives. “She got captured by the mad woman, when she was on the run after the shock about siblings she didn't know about. She wants to get her hands on her for her own dark arts group. Not having it. Also, that bloody vampire is still out there after her also. It would seem that Aurora is going to be very popular with a lot of unsavoury people.” Lana nodded, frowning, feeling sorry for the girl. “Well, at least she has a good support system here. Anyway, you go talk to James, and and I'll talk to Nick. See if we can't get some way of finding out if that woman is indeed Lilith.” With that, she went back up to the lounge with Lucifer following her behind.
Lucifer made his way to the door, “Thanks for your help Lana, I appreciate it.” He reached over and placed a kiss on her cheek and then he was gone. It was a little too late to be calling upon James's door now, so he will do it tomorrow instead. Hopefully he would agree to let Rori and Ryder try to use their magic together to find out about this woman. If it was Lilith, the sooner they got her dealt with, the better.
The next evening, Lucifer called on James at his home, firstly to see how he was coping with all the revelations, and to also ask his permission for his kids to try and find out if Kandy was indeed Lilith. James had welcomed in and offered him a Scotch, the man was learning thought Luci feeling very impressed, he smiled and nodded, “Thank you my good man.” James returned the smile, “Not a problem, at least now I can enjoy one myself, off duty.” He winked and chuckled. He sat down, beckoning for Lucifer to do the same, which he did. Luci took a sip and then spoke. “So, I hear you have had a few shocks over the past week or so. Just wanted to know how you were coping.”
James thought it was very noble of him to come and see how he was doing. The devil no less, asking if he was okay. Who'd have thought. Truth was, he wasn't doing too well at all. It wasn't every day that you discover the wife you thought had died during childbirth to what you thought was your only child, was still alive and kicking. The upside to it, was the realisation that he also had a son. That definitely made up for it. He wasn't about to go all woe is me on Lucifer though. So he shrugged and smiled a little, “I'm fine, all good. There are plenty of people going through far worse then me.” Luci shook his head and pointed to it with his finger, “Don't lie James, you know I can tell. How are you really?” James sighed, frowning and then rolled his eyes, waving his hand, “Fine, I'm not good. The son, yeah, that's great, I mean, I adore Rori, but it's good to have a son to carry on my name. But the fact that my wife lied to me and is still alive? Not really sure how I feel about that.” He downed his drink and poured another and downed it immediately and slammed the glass down on the wooden table so hard that it smashed.
Luci made his way over to clear up the mess. “That's my trick usually when I get angry. I knew that it had be hard on you. I'm not happy about what she did to you either, but I do kind of understand her reasoning on it. The Campbell Coven trials for a first born witch are bloody brutal mate. You'll be glad that Rori escaped it. However, we're going to have to be extra vigilant now, as now they know she is here, they might very well come for her.” James gave Lucifer a weary look and ran his hand messily through his hair. “Fuck, that's all I need to try and deal with.” Luci put a hand on James's shoulder and squeezed it. “Don't worry my friend. Your daughter is very well protected. We won't let any harm come to her, you have my word and I never lie. However, it does bring me to the other reason for coming to talk with you.” Luci took it upon himself to pour James another drink and handed it to him before he sat down once more.
James had no doubt that Rori would be well protected here in Pandora. Not only did she now have a twin brother, there was Jake, her boyfriend, the whole team of wolves behind him, and Lucifer himself, Nick and Ryan. Then there were the hell-hounds that Lucifer had put outside their home. However, it didn't stop him from being pissed at Carolyn. “I'm sure she will be protected just fine, but I'm just annoyed. I can't believe that Carolyn kept my son from me. Anyway, what else is it that you want to talk about and I'm guessing it has to do with Rori with the way that you said that.” Luci smiled and nodded, “Well, it's to do with the both of them, and Nick to be honest. Lana and I got talking, Lana is Nick's mother, Rori and Ryder's aunt by all accounts and we are wondering about the possibility of Rori and Ryder being Gemini Twins and the possibility of them with Nick being some sort of magical celestial trinity. It means that together, their magic could be very powerful, more powerful than any Campbell ancestor, then any coven ancestor. They might just be powerful enough to find out if Kandy...” He trailed off, shook his head and chuckled, “Kandy, wasn't best pleased when I said it was a hooker's name.” He chuckled some more and went back on track, “Anyway, they might be able to find out if she is indeed Lilith, because Lana's magic isn't strong enough, but she could tell that Kandy was definitely cloaked, which means, she's not really who she says she is.” James took a few sips of his new glass of Scotch, taking his time, not wanting to get too intoxicated, as he did have work the next day after all.
He mulled over the information that Luci had just said, chuckled also at the name thing, “Kandy does sound a bit stripper or hooker like hough. So you think that Rori, Ryder and Nick might have some sort of connected magic or something? I suppose that is possible. Rori did tell me that she and Nick created snow falling around them when they joined hands, and the same thing happened with her and Ryder when they hugged.” He raised an eyebrow and wondered if he should contact the kids to come and talk to Lucifer about it themselves. They were both out with Jake and the lads. Rori was doing her best to get Ryder introduced to the younger crowd. Luci sat forward, “That does sound like a connection thing, the snow. Are they at home right now?” He asked, but James shook his head, “No, they're out with Jake and the lads. I can call them back if you like?” He was quite curious about it himself, but Luci was shaking his head. “No, leave them be for tonight. However, would you mind if we got them all together, say Saturday or Sunday when the weekend gives us more time?” James smiled and nodded, “That's fine with me. However, can you tell me what Gemini Twins or Trinity thing means? It would be nice to be more in the know about it.”
Of course it would, Lucifer fully understood why James wanted to know more, he smiled. “Naturally. Gemini Twins means that it's possible that united their power will be like no other. However, it can come at a cost, especially if the Coven find out about it, if they are. They usually like for Gemini Twins to merge their magic. If they're strong enough, they both come through it with equal strong power, but if one is slightly weaker than the other, the weaker one usually dies and the one that remains gets all the power. My advice would be not to have them merge at all. The Trinity thing, could mean that together, Rori, Ryder and Nick will have what we call the 'power of three'. Their magic is strong alone, but together, it's not matched by anybody else, not even a coven ancestor. So they could find out if Kandy is indeed Lilith as they will be strong enough together to do so.” James's eyes opened wide, as he took in that new information that Lucifer had told him. He rubbed at the back of his neck, “Well I definitely don't like the idea of the Gemini Twin thing, but sure, if the Trinity thing might find out who Kandy really is, then I don't have any problem with them using their magic to find out. In fact, I am almost certain that the kids will be only too happy to help, even if I wasn't so sure.” He chuckled, ever since Rori found out about her supernatural gifts, she had a mind of her own and was willing to do anything, no matter how he felt about it.
Luci smiled, “Great thanks James. How is things with Beth, any more weirdness been happening there?” James shook his head, “Nothing, so far. I still don't trust her, though even if she is being controlled. I mean, it's difficult to have someone who could just turn at a moment's notice and yet I don't have the heart to just say to her, she needs to go back to where she came from. Every time we bring up Camilla, she goes white and shivers, and doesn't want to talk about it. So even if Camilla is the one controlling her, she's also shit scared of her at the same time.” Luci sighed, and frowned a little, “I see, well, I can talk to Lana again about maybe creating an anti controlling talisman that you can attach to Beth's bed, that might stop her from going off on her own and coming back blank as you say.” James nodded, “If you could, that be great, yeah, thanks.” Luci finished his drink, “Of course. Right, well, I best head off, things to do, desires to find out and crimes to be punished.” His eyes flickered red a little and then he shook James's hand before heading out with James following and closing the door behind him.
